Establishing a Private OrganizationPlease review MCIPAC-MCBBO 5760.2 before applying to become a Private Organization.
These are the documents you’ll need to request Private Organization status: 1. PO Application Form: Request for Approval of Private Organization letter (must have a minimum of 2 officers: e.g., President/Treasurer). 2. Constitution and Bylaws of the organization (Please ensure these contain the mandatory statements in red as shown in the samples). 3. Proposed Annual Budget. Choose a reporting period where the end of the year will most likely be when you vote in new officers and turnover to a new board. For example. choose CALENDAR YEAR Jan-Dec if you will most likely turn over to a new board in December, choose FISCAL YEAR if you will most likely turn over to a new board in September and so on). The documents will be reviewed to ensure you have all of the required elements and ensure that the constitution and by-laws have all of the necessary components. The package will be submitted to Legal to review for any legal objections. The process could take between 2-6 weeks. If you are planning a fundraiser, you will need at least 21 days processing time after approval of your PO package, so please be aware of that when submitting your PO package. After approval:
Once the package is approved you will receive an email requesting to schedule a time to come into the office to pick up your letter of authorization. The letter will state the current permit date and the reporting requirements for the year which must be submitted by the due dates to remain active and sanctioned aboard MCIPAC. The PO monitor will review these requirements with you. Please allow 20 minutes for this meeting.
For your awareness, the CG, MCIPAC has designated Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Executive Branch as the office that oversees the PO program. The Private Organization Monitor is tasked with monitoring and validating all POs and ensuring compliance with appropriate regulations. POs are not associated with MCCS.
